BoM 08 Paris 2013 Thank you for your feedback — BoM Videos available 12 nov 2013 News by: Kevin

Dear Players,

We would like to thank you for the numerous feedback we've received about BoM8 thanks to this form.

We are pleased to read that an overwhelming majority of you has spent a great week-end and that BoM8 has been a success. Reading this encourages us to go on working on making BoM a better event.

We have of course noticed the few things you'd like us to work on:

  • Playing on the junction of two tables
  • The amount of space available

Playing on the junction of two tables

We believe you all know that Paris is way more expensive than the rest of the country.

As Tournament Organizers, our priority is to be able to welcome you all at BoM. Carefully crafting the Floor plan is therefore required to make that possible. We've kept a running option on the extra room to create more space throughout the week-end. We've used it on Saturday, since our budget allowed it.
Nevertheless, we have noted down your remarks and will do our best to give you more space in our upcoming events.

The amount of space available

Our tables were 2.20m long, and have welcome 3.5 players per table, which is 63cm per player. We believe this is very reasonable to play Magic

We have tried to understand what happened. Many of you pointed out that playing next to a player who was using a playmat meant their play area was drastically reduced.
Well, that's understandable as a playmat is 60cm wide and, if deckboxes and other stuff is stored not ON but NEXT TO the playmat, that is very likely to eat a neighbour's space.

We will ask in the future to players using a playmat to not store their items outside of the playmat. We also encourage you to ask your neighbours for space optimization.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to give us your impressions and be certain that we will go on working on improving the global quality of our events to make them always better.

See you at Grand Prix Paris and BoM9!

Finally, BoM8 videos have been uploaded and decklists are available on MTGTop8

BoM 08 Paris 2013 Commander packs available on site 29 oct 2013 News by: Kevin

Hello,

Online registration has closed this week-end. If you did not register online, don't worry, we'll definitely be able to welcome you as we've decided to rent the other room as well.

We've had a fair number of questions about having access to the new Commander packs since they're to be released on Nov 1st. If you plan on playing one of the new Commanders (Derevi?), we will have many available. If you'd rather play some True-name Nemesis, this will work as well.
In any case, we strongy encourage you to pre-order them on out partner's website http://www.magicbazar.fr so as to secure yours.

BoM8 is just around the corner, we're working hard on finalizing the last details, so see you there on Friday morning, ready for an awesome week-end!

BoM 08 Paris 2013 Raphael Levy on air! 23 oct 2013 News by: Kevin

We're proud to announce to day that our consultant for commenting the most awesome Legacy games will be Hall of Famer Raphael Levy.

Hall of Famer Raphael Levy

We'll be on air from around 4pm (GMT+1) everyday until the very last game of the very last match of that day!

  • On Friday, we plan to cover the PTQ as well as the Top8 of the Legacy French Cup
  • On Saturday, we'll follow rounds 5-9 of the Legacy Main Event, as well as the Duel Commander (EDH) top8
  • On Sunday, you'll be able to watch some Modern, the Legacy Main Event top8 and the Vintage top8!

Of course, even if we do not stream your preferred format live, Raphael and Tolki will do their best to keep you updated with what's happening in the other tournaments.

Two tips now, just for you:

  1. The best way to not miss anything about BoM8 is to be there! ;)
  2. And the best way to save on the Entry fee is to register online by next Sunday

BoM8 is just around the corner, starting in 10 days. You can still register online and benefit from our reduced prices until October 28th.

Meanwhile, we have made a small video (in French though) featuring some of our top prizes (including the whole Black Bordered P9 on the right page of the binder)

As usual, there will be online streaming through the week-end, thanks to Tolki who will be our commentator, teaming with top players in each format.

We hope you'll enjoy it, but don't feel that watching coverage is better than coming to BoM8, you'd be disappointed ;)

BoM 08 Paris 2013 Special Prizes for running Dragon Commanders 17 oct 2013 News by: Kevin

We at Bazaar of Moxen pay great attention to the spirit of the formats we organize tournaments of.

That's why we had announced a couple weeks ago we would give create a specific ranking for those those of you who would like to play our Duel Commander Events with a Legends, Invasion or Planar Chaos Dragon as their Commander.

The top 4 finishers running one of these Commanders will get a free alteration of their favourite card (not necessarily their Commander) by our Guest Artist Sandreline.

Therefore, even if you feel your deck is not quite as competitive as you'd like or if you just want to play for fun, that's another good reason to attend that awesome week-end!

Finally, if you're more keen on playing one of the new Commanders that will be released on Friday, Nov 1st, you can pre-order them on our partner Magic Bazar's website and get them at BoM8.

BoM 08 Paris 2013 Discount runs for two more weeks --- Wire transfers now accepted! 1 oct 2013 News by: Kevin

Dear BoM players,

We have been made aware that some of you have experienced issues registering for BoM8 using our website.

So we have negotiated with the venue a time extension to decide whether we need to rent the additional room or not. Therefore, we are happy to let you know that the discounted price will be available for two more weeks!

We want to insist that, to be able to welcome in the best possible conditions (enough space, tables and chairs, judges, great catering, etc.), we need to have an as accurate view of the attendance as possible. Right now, the room we have accepts 900 players only, and considering the last BoMs attendance, that's very close... We don't want to deny entry, but we need to be careful with the budget.

Therefore, Online Registration for the Legacy Main Event will still be 35€ until Sunday, October 13th.

For our other events, please check our Event Schedule.

Also, to make it more convenient for you to register, we have decided to make it possible for you to pay by wire transfer. We still encourage you to pay using a credit card (much more convenient for us) but if you meet difficulties in doing so, please send an email to registration@bazaar-of-moxen.com with your:

  • NAME
  • First Name
  • DCI Number
  • List of the tournaments you want to pay for

We will send then you our bank information and the total price so that you can make a direct wire transfer in the following 3 (three) days. Please note that this is not any kind of “pre-registration” and you will need to pay within three days to be eligible to the discount.

We hope these decisions will make the registration process much easier and we will be happy to meet you at BoM8!

BoM 08 Paris 2013 Rules for the two Duel Commander events 27 jul 2013 News by: Kevin

BoM 08 Paris 2013 Welcome to BoM in Paris! 27 jun 2013 News by: Kevin

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Welcome to BoM in Paris !

The Eighth edition of Bazaar of Moxen will take place for the first time in Paris on the 1, 2 and 3 November 2013.
As usual, we have done our best and innovated to give you the best of Magic during an exceptional week-end.

BoM in Paris!

The first innovation is without a doubt the city. We were well aware of the voices advocating for Bazaar of Moxen in a more accessible city. After careful consideration, we’ve decided that we’d go to Paris, along with its six train stations and two airports wide open on France, Europe and the World.

Crafting the budget was tough. Because we want to keep offering you the best possible prizes, we could not find anything inside Paris. Because we did not want to bring you far from this amazing city, we have chosen the city of Nanterre, ideally located next to “La Défense”, merely 10 minutes away from Paris by a direct train.
We have also thought about accommodation and have chosen a venue with several affordable hotels nearby. On top of it, we have negotiated special rates for you to make sure accommodation will not hurt.

The address of the venue is available in the Location section.

Great Magic for all players

After BoM7’s success, we’ll go on running non-Eternal events. If you don’t play Legacy or Vintage, you’ll be able to enjoy Sealed Deck, Commander and Modern, including a Sealed PTQ on Friday!
And if you do not have a constructed deck at all, we’ve scheduled one limited event each day.

Another Commander

We’re proud to have organized the first event crossing the 100-player bar during BoM7. To thank you all, we’ve chosen to organize TWO Commander events during BoM8, featuring a FOIL Future Sight Tarmogoyf as well as another FOIL Worldwake Jace, the Mind Sculptor.

Full details are available in our Events section

Slight changes for Vintage

Unfortunately, attendance at the Vintage event has decreased in the past editions. After hours of debate, we’ve decided to downgrade the prizes we guarantee on this event.
However, we already make the following promise: If Vintage’s attendance crosses 350 players again, we will immediately set BoM7’s prizes back, including the full P9 to the winner.

Full details are available in our Events section

Modern is coming

We’ve made a poll on our FB page right after BoM7, and this poll clearly showed you wanted to play Modern. Not a problem! We’ve heard you and you’ll be able to enjoy Modern on Sunday, with 20 fetchlands and 40 Shocklands to the winner, so as to have the perfect mana base for the format.

Full details are available in our Events section

Shorter Side Events

If we’re very happy to see attendance growing, we’ve also taken the measure of what too long tournaments mean to you. Meanwhile, we’ve heard compliments about our tournaments with a fix number of rounds.
We’ve therefore chosen to shorten our Side Events. The number of rounds will be determined in advance and prizes will be awarded based on individual performance rather than ranking. For instance, Friday’s Last Chance Trial will be a 7-round tournament, no matter the attendance, and all players with a 7-0 record will win a set of 10 Dual Lands as well as 3 byes for the Legacy Main Event.

Entry Fee and Online payment

This is no surprise: Paris is way more expensive than Annecy. We do not want to deny entry to a player who has come by Metro, has crossed France, Europe or an ocean, but can’t afford renting a too large room.
Since we did not want to increase the Entry Fee nor decrease prizes but need figures to rent the exact size of room, we’ve decided to open registration for four of our events (PTQ, Friday’s Last 3-bye Trial, Legacy Main Event and our BoM Sealed) online on our partner’s website www.magicbazar.fr

  • Until Sun, Sept, 29th, you’ll pay what you used to pay at BoM for the same tournament.
  • From Mon, Sept, 30th to Sun, Oct, 27th, Entry fee will be 5€ more expensive
  • From Mon, Oct, 28th, online registration will be closed and you’ll only be able to register on-site. Entry fees will be 10e more expensive.

Knowing how many of you will attend BoM8 one month before the event will allow us to rent a larger room and extra tables and chairs if needed (Friday, Nov 1st being bank holidays in France, this would prove difficult on site). The extra income coming from later registrations will be used to rent an extra room last minute or, if it's not needed, will be added to the prize pool in one way or another!

We can only recommend you to register and pay online: You’ll get the cheapest rate and the best experience! To register, simply click on the Registration link at the top of this page or directly on this link (You’ll be redirected to our partner’s website www.magicbazar.fr, this is perfectly normal).

Negotiated rates for your accomodation

We have negotiated a deal with the Hotel Campanile Nanterre-La Défense to allow you to stay for the whole duration of BoM at a very cheap price.

All details are available in our Location section.
